Careworks Community Services latest program –
First–Time Parenting Program (FTPP) is now available for all married couples wishing to prepare themselves for their first child. Whether you are planning to have your first child or are already expecting, at Careworks we understand your concerns, fears and dreams and work with you to address them. The First Time Parenting Program (FTTP) was first launched on 25th March 2017. Its primary purpose is to provide a smooth, natural transition for both newly married couples and for those desiring to start a family to move to the next stage of their lives. Just as marriage requires ongoing preparation and support, likewise programs for new parents is vital for handling the many competing demands in a rapidly changing, global economy. The main aim of the FTPP held on a small scale was to meet the growing need for preparation in parenting for the first 2-3 years of a child’s life. The second aim was to encourage feedback on the new program before its public launch. Selected couples were invited by Careworks to participate in the program. Six eager couples, among, them some expectant mothers, spent time listening, discussing and working through various topics such as:
The participants also had the opportunity to practise some skills that were taught, in addition to raising questions during the interactive parts of the program. Couples also had a 2-hour individual session with facilitators to discuss their couple personality profiles and family influences. This benefited them as the reports were customized to meet their particular needs and could be discussed privately with the benefit of a facilitator. |

The facilitators came from diverse backgrounds of education, counselling and pastoral guidance. They offered vignettes from their many years of marriage and parenting. Some stories of their real life experiences and antics of their children drew laughter and smiles from the appreciative audience.
